WHY DO WE ASK FOR DONATIONS?
If you are newer
to the Internet you may not realize that websites which include videos
and montages require a huge amount of bandwidth
and data transfer.
Streaming
them (watching them on the site) puts a huge drain on the bandwidth
for which the site owner must pay. This is the reason for the notices which
request that you "right-click and save target" to your own computer before
watching montages or videos. Even downloading the videos and montages
the correct way uses a lot of bandwidth, but there is no way around
that for a site (like this one) which is committedto providing these downloads
for its visitors.
Exceeding
the allotted bandwidth -purchased by the owner of the site - incurs large
fees for the extra amount used. For this reason, from time to time
some of the videos and montages will not be available, but I will do my
best to keep the most current videos available even if that includes paying
these extra fees. Below is how you can help me continue to provide these
features.Thank you so very much to those who have recently
contributed...or have contributed at some time in the past.
Please note that even
if you download videos from someplace else.
it is still very expensive
to keep the site online- requiring three separate servers.

The
history of The Ideal Idol site
When
I first had
the idea of creating an online tribute to Clay Aiken in 2003,
I never dreamed that in such a short time Clay's mother would e-mail me
to say she loves the site, that she would recommend it to her mailing list,
that it would regularly start the day for many Internet users, and ultimately
receive anywhere from 4,000 -8,000 visitors each day!
Since
Clay's appearance on the American Idol 5 Finale, and his 2006 appearances
on various TV programs, and most recently his 2007 summer tour, the number
of visitors to the site and subsequent downloads have at times tripled!
I
want to be able to keep the site online for all of you who have been loyal
visitors to the site over the past 3 years as well as for the new Clay
fans who have discovered the joy that comes from being a fan of Clay Aiken.
The
videos and montages are a part of the site which are tremendously
popular. However, the bandwith/data transfer are quite expensive.
(What is data transfer?)
Contributions
to the site help to pay for its upkeep including the bandwidth and data
transfer costs .
My
intention has always been to share my respect and admiration for this unique
young man whose influence has become incredibly far-reaching. As
a result of the amazing impact Clay has on people, this website has become
far more popular than I ever expected it would! This popularity has,
however, come with a price- and that is of having to again purchase
more webspace and data transfer in order to keep more videos and montages
available for download.
I
sincerely hope to continue to be able make this web site available for
Clay admirers to enjoy. To be able to do this I need voluntary sponsors
for the site. Donations can be acknowledged on a "Special Contributors"
page , using the donor's actual or fictitious user name, whichever they
prefer. (Or if they prefer, they may remain anonymous.)
Any
funds received in excess of the cost of the time and work required to keep
the site updated and the expense of keeping this site online will be donated
to the Bubel/Aiken Foundation in the name of "Clay Admirers from the Clay
Aiken - The Ideal Idol" website.
I
really want to be able to continually add new content and information.
If
