berkeley comments on Press Release:
I like this press release. It especially pleases me that it presents a story behind this new music, beginning with the Ryan Tedder-written title track, and features Clay talking about his inspirations for music, absent his self-deprecation. I'm thrilled that it updates Clay's story strongly but without some of the hyperbolic excesses that scream "PR SALES JOB!!!".Man, am I happy that we'll get to hear "On My Way Here" on AOL First Listen on Monday.
PMK? Absolute monster of a powerful public relations house. (With Pat Kingsley moving more into a titular position, there's new blood doing the day to day operations there now.) Lots of Very Big Name clients there, as well as a major film and television presence. PMK also represents American Online and several other corporate brands.
The lead name on the press release is Barry Parasram, and he's pictured in several photos at WireImage.com. It looks like he's probably about Clay's age and has been doing increasingly higher profile events over the last couple of years, including the Hugo Boss party July 25, 2006 - Roof Garden at 601 West 26th Street. (The backgrounds of some of those photos reminded me of the cover for OMWH.)
Just a guess, but it might be that a publicist who is Clay's contemporary might have an interest in some PR placements that would resonate with that age group. This could prove to be a good way to expand interest in this new CD.
I also suspect we'll hear more from Kipper and perhaps a songwriter or two in some of the online media. That would be more effective to me than simply putting their quotes in the press release.
I think there will be lots to look forward to, in this run-up to the CD release.
