The Mic

The lights dimmed in the house, and the Mic braced herself for another performance. The air was filled with a different atmosphere tonight; there was an electric charge to it as the audience murmured in anticipation, an occasional scream escaping past someone's self-control.

Warm hands were suddenly clasped gently around her body as the lights were lowered even more. She heard a sigh and looked up to see brown-spiked head bowed in reverence, fear, or some undetermined emotion.

The crowd was getting impatient as the singer was announced. A roar erupted in tandem as the house lights were raised, and the first strains of music were heard.

Breathy and strong, he sung out the first perfect notes as the audience screamed out his name in recognition of his song. Tuning out the roar of the crowd, she was drawn in to the quality of his voice - pure and mesmerizing - from the first few notes.

Then the movements began. Warm hands splayed over her as he clutched her with two hands, his fingers interlacing together. Strong and sure, they gripped her lovingly, never stopping their movement.

She closed her eyes as the heat of his hands warmed her to the core. The clasping and unclasping of his hands began to generate a different kind of energy inside her.
The song began to build, and she was caught up in the passion in his song.

He danced with her, swooping her outwards ever so gently before bringing her close enough to his body that she could almost feel the heat that whooshed from his jacket as he moved to the beat of the music.

Then the unspeakable happened. His fingers inched slowly down her stand, igniting a different kind of fire that burned every inch by inch. She wasn't sure what to concentrate on: his voice was pure heaven, his movements brought her to new heights, and his hands were heavenly as they touched and stroked her smooth skin. She
felt loved - if only for a few moments.

He dipped her gently, then ran his hand down her back as his voice soared through the chorus of his song. She became aware of his breath rushing over her as he sang, occasionally his lower lip touching her for a fleeting second.

She nearly burst a circuit when he growled 'you, baby', and from that moment, she realized she was in danger of  losing control, of destroying his magical song. So she put forth her best for him, concentrating on making his voice sound even sweeter. This was his moment, not hers.

All too soon the song ended, and a twinge of disappoint tweaked in her circuitry. No one had ever made her feel the way he had – she was falling in love.

The Mic looked at his face as the applause washed over them in a roar. A lop-sided grin played on his lips instantly, endearing him to her forever, and suddenly, he wasn't the sexy crooner who had lovingly caressed her body to distraction. Instead, he was all innocence and caring. A man who loved singing and the joy it brought to people.

Somehow, he was different from all the other singers, ones who had manhandled her in the past, but a man with a purpose - a reason for performing. The light softly glowed behind him in a halo effect as he nodded his head in humble thanks. His breath once again blew over her, but this time, she smiled.

This was what it was all about – he was the one she'd had been waiting for all her existence. Snuggling into his hands once again, the Mic imprinted his touch onto her heart. Someone who could change her world, and the world -forever.
